The stress of "We couldn't make it", "The system crashed", "Are the fines coming?" that has been going on for months in the motorcycle courier sector has finally come to an end. A critical last-minute development closely concerning artisan couriers and package delivery workers earning their living on two wheels has occurred.
Under normal circumstances, the expected move from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure came for the SRC Courier Certificate, which was expected to become completely mandatory as of May 15, 2026. The Ministry officially postponed the mandatory date to January 1, 2027, in order to complete infrastructure preparations and prevent couriers from suffering!
So what does this postponement mean? What will current SRC 4 holders do? Here are all the details...
Official Statement from the Ministry: Why Was It Postponed?
In the official statement made by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, the vital importance of the motorcycle courier sector in the logistics chain was emphasized. It was stated that this flexibility was made so that hundreds of thousands of couriers in the sector can integrate into the new system, complete the trainings properly, and ensure the digital infrastructure works flawlessly.

What is SRC Courier? Why Shouldn't You Get SRC 4?
The question "Are we going to get SRC 4?" still continues to circulate in courier groups. Let's put a final clear point to the subject: No, if you are getting a certificate from scratch, you should not get SRC 4.
🔗 Official Gazette Text: You can visit the T.R. Official Gazette - Issue Dated January 29, 2026 link to examine the original regulation articles showing that the SRC Courier certificate has officially entered our law.
With the regulation published in the Official Gazette dated January 29, 2026, the SRC 4 certificate received by truck/van drivers for motorcycle couriers was completely deactivated, and a brand new professional qualification certificate named SRC Courier was defined.
- SRC 4: It is for those who carry general freight with four or more wheeled commercial vehicles such as trucks, vans, and panel vans.
- SRC Courier: It is for those carrying packages, food, and cargo with two or three-wheeled vehicles (motorcycle, moped, e-motor).
What Will Those Who Received SRC 4 Before Do? (Is There an Exemption?)
One of the most common mistakes in the sector is the thought of "I already have an SRC 4 certificate, this will save me" or "Those with an SRC 4 certificate can transition without an exam." There is absolutely no such exemption or right of transition in the regulation.
SRC 4 and SRC Courier certificates have completely different curriculums, risk analyses, and vehicle classes (truck vs. motorcycle). Therefore:
- Even if you have received an SRC 4 certificate in the past, if you are going to do commercial transportation by motorcycle, this certificate will be considered legally invalid.
- Motorcycle couriers, regardless of their past certificates, are obliged to enroll in an MEB-approved course from scratch, receive 25 hours of SRC Courier training, and pass the e-Exam.
Don't Slack Off Just Because There's a Postponement: The Penalty for Working Without a Certificate is Heavy!
The fact that inspections have been relaxed until January 1, 2027, does not mean that you can completely forget and postpone this document. Considering the intensity and exam queues that will be experienced in courses towards the end of the year, it makes the most sense to start preparations now. Because the penalty for being caught without a certificate in the new year will seriously hurt:
- Penalty Issued to the Courier: 4,392 TL
- Penalty Issued to the Company/Business: 10,666 TL
- Total Bill: 15,058 TL administrative fine.
Also, it should not be forgotten that digital delivery platforms will immediately suspend accounts that do not have an active "SRC Courier" certificate in their systems as of January 1, 2027, and terminate business partnership processes.
In Summary;
This additional time given by the Ministry is a great opportunity to give the sector a breather and complete preparations. We recommend that you consult an authorized transportation course and start your SRC Courier process without waiting for the last months to avoid facing penalties and losing your job.
May your wheels run straight, and your certificates be complete on the roads!
⚠️ Important Note: Legal legislations, penalty amounts, and application dates can be updated by official institutions from time to time. In order not to experience any grievances, we strongly recommend that you always follow the most up-to-date changes and official announcements from direct official state sources such as the T.R. Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and the Official Gazette.
