Recently, the most common question turning around in the streets, forums, or courier groups is: "Bro, are we going to get SRC 4 for the motorcycle, or is there a new certificate?" If you are working on platforms like Getir, Trendyol Go, Yemeksepeti, Uber Eats, or as an independent artisan courier, stop listening to hearsay. Because a brand new era is legally beginning in the motorcycle courier sector.
🚨 Critical Warning
IMPORTANT UPDATE: The obligation for the SRC Courier certificate has been postponed by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure until January 1, 2027. However, it is aimed to register the sector after this date. You can review the details below to prepare for the new era.
Let's lay all the question marks in your head on the table one by one, with clear rules and current penalties.
1. Is there a Special SRC Certificate for Motorcycles?
Yes, there is. With the Official Gazette decision dated January 29, 2026, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure defined a brand new certificate type for motorcycle couriers, completely independent of traditional professional qualification certificates: SRC Courier Certificate.
Now, it is a legal obligation for anyone carrying packages, cargo, food, or documents for commercial purposes with two or three-wheeled motor vehicles (motorcycles, mopeds, or electric motors) to obtain this specific certificate.
2. I'm a Courier, Can I Just Get SRC 4?
No, you can't anymore. Previously, due to gaps in the legislation, motorcycle couriers were directed to the SRC 4 (Domestic Freight Transport) certificate obtained by truck/van drivers. However, with the new regulation, the roles have been completely separated:
- SRC 4: It is for those who carry general freight with four or more wheeled commercial vehicles such as trucks, vans, and panel vans.
- SRC Courier: It is only for those who carry courier shipments with a maximum weight of 30 kg or 300 dm³ in a single piece with motorcycles and mopeds.
3. What are the Differences Between SRC Courier and SRC 4?
The traffic, risk, and dynamics of motorcycle couriering and truck driving are not the same. That's why the Ministry separated the trainings and durations as follows:
| Criterion | SRC 4 Certificate | SRC Courier Certificate |
|---|---|---|
| Target Vehicle Type | Truck, Van, Panel Van | Motorcycle, Moped, E-Motor |
| Transport Scope | Domestic General Tonnage Freight | Package, Food, Cargo (Max 30 kg) |
| Training Duration | 32 Lesson Hours | 25 Lesson Hours (21 Theory + 4 Practice) |
| Curriculum Focus | Customs, TIR Legislation, General Logistics | Safe Motorcycle Riding, Courier Operations |
4. How to Get the SRC Courier Certificate?
The process progresses quite fast with the e-Exam system through MEB-approved transport courses:
1. Register for the Right Course
Register at an authorized Private Transport Services Course affiliated with the Ministry of National Education with your A1, A2, or A class driving license, ID, and educational certificate. (Class B driving license is invalid for couriering).
2. Complete the 25-Hour Training
Attend the 21-hour theoretical (traffic safety, legislation) and 4-hour motorcycle-specific practical/simulation trainings given within the course.
3. Pass the e-Exam
Be successful by getting at least 60 points from the 40-question theoretical test organized by the Ministry of National Education. (Remember, with the new regulation, the practical application exam held on weekends for couriers has been abolished, there is only a theoretical exam).
4. Deposit the Fees and Get Your Digital Certificate
After passing the exam, deposit the certificate card fee to the relevant banks. Your SRC Courier certificate will be instantly processed into your e-Government system. No more waiting for cards for ages!
5. What is the Penalty for Working Without a Certificate? (2026 Current)
Don't just say, "Oh, who's going to check?", the inspections have been tightened considerably. The penalty for getting caught while doing commercial transport without an SRC Courier certificate is issued to both the courier and the affiliated company, if any:
- Penalty Issued to the Driver: 4,392 TL
- Penalty Issued to the Business/Company: 10,666 TL
- Total Cost: 15,058 TL administrative fine.
